Brijesh
Sharma has established the India Traveller to offer educational, informative,
enjoyable, adventurous and cultural tours as well as Himalayan cultural tour and
treks. He was born and grew up in his ancestral home that is about a mile away
from the world famous Taj Mahal in Agra City in northern India. He had his
primary and secondary school education in St. Georges High School, a protestant
Christian mission school in Agra. He studied in Radhaswami Educational
Institutes College in Dayalbagh in northern Agra for his pre-college education
and then earned his B.A. from St. Johns College, one the oldest and premier
higher education colleges of Agra University. He studied and passed successfully
in his M. A. (Previous) in Indian History but could not complete the degree
course because he moved to Switzerland. The study of Indian history,
nonetheless, has been his passion throughout his life. He took a special course
to obtain the Government of Uttar Pradesh Tourist Guide License in Lucknow, the
capital of Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state in India. Later he was
selected for the Government of India Tourist Guide License Training Program held
in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan State.
After
obtaining his All India Guide License from the Government of India Tourism
Department, he guided and escorted individual and group tours in Jaipur, Delhi,
Agra, Mathura, Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Sariska Tiger Sanctuary, Gwalior and
Khajuraho. As a cultural and wildlife tour guide he worked freelance for
prominent Indian travel agencies like Sita World Travels, American Express,
Thomas Cook, Mercury Travels and Travel Corporation of India. He guided and
escorted tour groups of foreign travel companies like Grand Circle Tours,
American Express and Unitours of the USA, Jet Tours of France, Zuid Europa of
Holland and Kuoni Travels of Switzerland among many others. He has traveled and
studied about interesting destinations from Kashmir in the north of India to the
tip of southern India at Kanya Kumari. He has personally visited most of the
destinations offered in our travel programs. He studied detailed and most
authentic historical and other information on all the places included in the
itineraries. The City Descriptions and History of India information on this
website is just a brief summary of his exhaustive notes.
In 1980 he
moved to Switzerland where he studied the German language and gradually got
familiar with the many dialects of Swiss German spoken in the country. After
various courses in commerce and banking, he worked with various Swiss and
international banks in Zug, Zurich and Geneva until August 1999 when he moved to
the U.S. Brijesh established a home based hobby travel agency called Indien
Reisen for planning custom made tours to India and Nepal for individual
clients in Switzerland while he was working fulltime in the credit area with
international banks. In the US he successfully completed a Travel Agent
Training Program at Travel Careers International, Ltd. in New York City
in October 2001. He has traveled extensively in central, southern and eastern
Europe, the Mediterranean Sea islands, Turkey, Egypt, Nepal, Singapore, Canada
and Mexico as well as various places in mainland USA and Hawaii islands.
In June
2006 Brijesh registered India Traveller in California. India Traveller is

The Art
& Culture of Northern India Study Tour
from December 25, 2006 to January 6, 2007 was our first group tour to India with
33 participants. This study tour was co-sponsored by the Division of
Continuing & Global Education and the College of Arts & Humanities of
the California State University, Fresno as well as by the Fresno Art
Museum. We had a very positive feedback from our participants in this study
tour. A brief description of this study tour along with excerpts from feedback
comments of some of the participants can be viewed in References section
of this website. The California State University students received three units
of credit towards their degree courses and some students also received
scholarships to participate in this very informative and educational study tour.
Brijesh has filmed some very interesting sites in India in high definition
digital tapes and is planning to market City Documentaries of important
historical and cultural cities in the entire sub-continent of India. His first
film documentary was a 54-minute depiction of The Art & Culture of Northern
India Study Tour of 2006/2007 which is available to be viewed in the Henry
Madden Library of California State University, Fresno. A 5-minute clip of this
documentary is on the home page of this website. In 2007 we have organized many
individual tours in various regions of India for clients in California. In 2008
all the group tours are sold out. The Northwestern India Tour with Tiger Safari
and Pushkar Camel Fair in November 2008 was sponsored by the Clovis Chamber of
Commerce in California, USA. India Traveller is a member of the Clovis Chamber
of Commerce.
